Figures of the day

This is the number of preservatives authorized in the European Cosmetics Directive.  It includes substances unfamiliar to the general public (chlorphenesin, phenoxyethanol, sorbic acid, etc.) and others that are more in the media spotlight like parabens. The use of parabens and the consumer acceptance thereof is already in the spotlight. The complete list of ingredients that can play a "preservative" role, and that are used to this end, is much longer.
